Pandemic pizza

2

"Just order the usual.", she said, heading to their table to prepare the area.

Without touching anything, she sat down, carefully unfolding her purse to reveal three zipped plastic bags. One was empty. The other two each contained a surgical glove she had placed inside this morning, using freshly disinfected tweezers. Lifting her visor, she removed her surgical mask and placed it inside the empty bag. She made sure to only touch the absolute minimum of the elastic, and never made any contact with the mask itself.

Unzipping the first glove bag, she was careful to only touch the inside of the glove, and then applied the other glove to her left hand pulling only on the inside again, harnessing the latex's friction enough that the whole scene seemed only mildly awkward.

When her husband finally arrived with the pizza, she asked him to place one piece—and one piece only—of green pepper-pepperoni-pizza neatly on to her plate. Despite his ineptitude, he managed to neatly tuck the cheese using only the spatula, so as not to have any strands outside the interior bounds of the plate.

She then proceeded to the most important part of this ritual. Shifting the pizza with a gloved hand, she lifted the piece to her mouth, taking a bite. The gloves ensuring no germs from the pizza would enter her body.
